FAQ
Is it heavy?
800 g — lighter than a full water bottle. Slip the wrist lanyard over your hand to carry it between spots, then set the kit on your lap, a flat surface, or mount it on a tripod via the ¼" thread on the base to paint.
What size paper fits inside?
Up to 32K (190 × 130 mm). The included rose-gold binder clip holds the sheet firmly against the inner easel panel, even outdoors in light wind.
Does the kit include a brush?
No — we leave brush choice to the artist. Many of our customers pair the kit with our Mairtini® 6-Piece Travel Brush Set for a complete plein-air loadout.
Does it work on a regular camera tripod?
Yes. The kit has a standard ¼"-20 thread (the same one used on every camera and phone tripod), so it works with anything from a tabletop tripod to a full hiking one. We also offer a matched ArtMate tripod as an add-on.
How do I attach my watercolor palette to a tripod?
1. Locate the mounting nut. On the bottom of your wooden watercolor palette, you'll find a built-in 1/4" threaded metal nut.
2. Prepare the tripod. Place it on a stable surface and make sure the head is level.
3. Release the quick-release plate. On the right side of the tripod head (near the red button) there's a plastic lever — pull it back. The square plate on top will pop free; lift it off. You'll see a 1/4" metal screw sticking out of this square piece.
4. Attach the plate to your palette. Screw the square plate clockwise into the threaded nut on the bottom of the palette until it's firmly seated and doesn't wobble.
5. Click it back onto the tripod. Lower the palette (with the plate now attached) back onto the tripod head until it clicks securely into place.
6. Adjust for use. Use the tripod's knobs to tilt or rotate the palette to your preferred painting angle.
Why does it come with a phone holder?
Because half the work of plein-air painting is seeing. The adjustable phone mount clips onto the kit so you can pull up a reference photo, a tutorial, or your own zoomed-in shot of a landscape detail — and keep both hands free for painting. Multi-axis ball joint means you angle the screen wherever the light isn't hitting it. It's the small upgrade most other watercolor boxes don't think to include.
